RINGING FEES & KEEPING IN TOUCH

The Association's advice to PCC Treasurers and incumbents with regard to ringing fees and weddings for other occasions is:
1. The majority of towers currently pay ringers a fee of between £15 and £20 each. However, when local parking charges are an issue (a 2 hour ticket usually being required) or travel costs high then the fee should be increased appropriately.
2. Some towers are challenging and the tower captain struggles to get sufficient ringers. In these cases market forces dictate that a considerably higher fee may be justified.
3. The fee to the couple, in most cases, includes a fee to the PCC or tower fund towards the maintenance cost of the bells and the fittings. The majority of tower fees are currently between£20 and £50.
4. Where towers have more than eight bells, a typical charge would be for just eight ringers. However, if the couple want all ten or twelve bells ringing, or by custom and practice the full number of bells is rung at weddings, then the full number needs to be charged.
5. If ringers fail to turn up, or the full complement is unavailable, then there may be no return of monies to the couple or family unless there is no ringing at all. When setting fees, your tower captain should be consulted regarding the situation of your ring of bells. (NB if you do not have a tower captain please contact the Association via the secretary and we will find someone to advise you.)
