EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORT

The Education Committee organised two major training events during 2007, a half-day in May and a full day in October. Despite offering more advanced methods the applicants always seem to want Plain Hunt and Bob Doubles. On the October day we operated from two bases using Eckington in the north and Etwall in the south in the hope of attracting a few people who might have thought Eckington sounded too far north.

The districts continue to offer local training and Peak District in particular needs to be congratulated on the training it organises. The number of new rings might have necessitated this in recent years and a very enthusiastic band of learners clamouring for training but Peak have certainly risen to the challenge. Chesterfield District make very good use of the courses run at the Gordon Halls Ringing Centre but we would like to remind ringers that these courses are open to all the members of the Association.

Training is always in demand but so often the people wanting it cannot make the chosen day. The education committee are asked to publicise days further and further ahead and there lies one of the problems. This sometimes makes local district courses appear more popular. We have always said contact the education committee if you have a need for training and that is still true, we will try to help any group who make a request.

We are not limited to our two advertised training days. Please ask if you would like some help and we will do our best to assist.
