Gordon Halls Ringing Centre Report

2012 was probably our busiest year so far with over 60 training events of one form or another taking place at the Centre during the year. These have included a one day training event on behalf of the DDA, one ITTS course run by the Central Council and five Whiting Society training events. All other events were organised locally with a Plain Methods practice each month and 43 tailored training sessions for ringers across the Association.

I am particularly pleased that we have been able to assist both Shirland and Clowne in establishing new bands with many of these ringers being taught from scratch at the Centre. Towards the end of the year we have started regular sessions for handling improvement for Tibshelf ringers which have now developed into more advanced sessions.

We have a number of bookings already in the diary for 2013, which looks as though it may be equally as busy. Whilst we are busier the facility can be available for parts or all of most days, so there is plenty of scope to do more. Some of our events have been happening on Sunday afternoons as this is often a good time for people normally at work during the week. We also have many daytime events during weekdays, which tend to be for the more mature learner. If you have a band or members of your band who would benefit from some one-to-one tuition then please contact me. If you would like to become involved in assisting with training at the Centre I would also love to hear from you.

This is your Ringing Training Centre make sure you get the best use from this excellent facility.
