2012 Annual Report

PRESIDENT'S COMMENT
2012 was the diamond jubilee year for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and there were a good many special ringing events for the day, also the Olympic Games were celebrated by many Derbyshire churches ringing when the Olympic flame came through their community.

It has taken most of the year to successfully re-organise the Association and Bell Repair Fund constitutions to create a greater degree of independence for the BRF and meeting the requirements of the Charity Commissioners. Thanks to John Thorpe the steps toward the change were guided through the Association Committee without any serious hitch.

There is a healthy financial situation and it is hoped that this will enable us to invest in promoting bell ringing and provide training and development.

With the support of Jane Boden I ran a stall at the clergy conference distributing bell ringing leaflets to diocesan clergy, engaging with them and answering questions. The leaflet was based on a design from the Central Council and was aimed at clergy and churchwardens. There will be an opportunity to distribute the leaflets to churchwardens at the archdeaconry warden citations in May 2013.
